Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

I was considering going through this university for my RN- BSN.... The school claims the program is only 13 months and 6,450 if all you need are your core nursing classes... If you need pre-reqs it can still take you as little as 13 months, but it's an extra 349.00 per course... This seems very reasonable... Just wondering if anyone has gone through this program or is currently doing this program?

Hi,

I am in the third week of Prof. Nsg A and B and it's a lot of work, but the academic coach answers your questions really quick. I have never done papers in APA format so a little tough for me but okay. Just pick something that is interesting to you because you work with that topic continuously.

Good luck,

There are some software aides that can auto-format your text and footnotes into APA (and MLA) format. One is called PERRLA and costs about $30. Haven't personally used it but have heard from others that it works well. I've alse heard that the newest version of MS Word offers limited help with APA formatting.

I plan to invest in PERRLA or something similar when I start the RN-BSN program. Formatting will then be just one less thing to have to waste time on.

I used PERRLA during my BSN program. It worked very well, saved me a lot of time in formatting.

I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UTA Academic Partnership program. I submitted my application back in Feb. and still have not heard anything. I checked the student website and all it says is that my application is under review. How long does this process take? If I move from Texas to Georgia will I be able to complete the clinical portions? My husband is military which is why I am pursuing this program. I have a BS in Health Professions currently and as Associates Degree in R.T.....I am going for a BSN (2nd BS degree). Please let me know if anyone has info. on this program! Also....any advice on the HESI A2? I am taking it April 15.

Hi, Is PERRLA a software we can purchase on amazon or you just have to pay and download it?

Thanks. Goodluck to you too. Let us know how everything goes after the class!

I applied to the RN-BSN on-line program about 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the clinical component of the program - there isn't one for RN-BSN.

As far as the application process, UT-A sent me an e-mail confirming that they received the application the next day and a few days later I received a snail mail with a student ID number and log on/temp PW for the school's computer network. A few days after that, an "enrollment specialist" phoned to confirm that I had gotten the UT-A info and tell me that I would hear back again as soon as all my transcripts were received (which should hopefully be by the middle of next week). Not sure if this is the process for the 2nd degree BSN program but I can tell you that it's much better than that used at the other school I applied to, Ohio U.

To date (over a month since I applied to OU and more than 3 weeks since I requested my transcripts), they still have not contacted me. I actually sent an e-mail to an enrollment counselor there but was unable to learn anything. Instead, I was told I'd be contacted when I've been accepted and then when the transcript evaluation is complete. You can read the details of my complaints on the "Ohio U RN-BSN Program" thread here in this folder. So by comparison, UT-A seems great.

My nursing school (CC) used a series of assessment exams from ATI (I think they developed the TEAS as well) rather than the HESI, so I can't comment on that either, I know it is a great cause of anxiety for many students but it's really only one more standardized test you have to take, so I say just do some prep for it, then don't worry. Just like the NCLEX, the overwhelming majority of students get through OK (though I think the HESI pass rates are a bit lower).

I am also attempting to goto UTA. Seems like the cheapest route to go. The admissions process is 1000 times slower then any other college i have applied to. It is very disappointing. Sent transcripts over a week ago and they say they still havent arrived. Even snail mail doesnt take 7 days from South Carolina to Texas. Seems like a hassel compared to online universities that have accepted me off of unofficial transcripts and my current RN license.

By comparison to Ohio University, UT-A is a model of efficiency and communication. UT-A has been in touch with me by both snail and e-mail and I at least have confirmation that they received all of my transcripts and are in the process of evaluating them. I've heard nothing at all from OU and it's been over 2 months.

Trust me, UT-A is not slower than OU based on what I'm reading. Just ask the 'ol chuckster! I think their admissions process is bogged down by who knows what, but eventually you get the go ahead. It's frustrating at best but I think when you consider the cost savings and the qualitiy of their programs either will be a good fit.

I'm researching my options for online RN-BSN so I'm subscribing to this thread. Thanks for the info!

Also considering UT-A for an advanced degree... went to their web site and have received a couple of e-mails which I just got around to reading (other urgent projects here). Thanks to all for any opinions and comments about UT-A.
