hey rntriathlete! (or anyone else if you know)

i am really interested in this online program and i noticed that you are from ca too. are there any clinicals that we would have to do for the program even though we already have our rn license? :)

as kcdunlap posted, some courses do require you to be in a clinical setting, but this can be your job or a volunteer setting. even in the intro to prof nursing class, it was assumed that we were working and we used our experiences to answer questions. i am a new grad rn and have spent the last few months looking for my first job which made this a little tricky at times. i posted a lot of responses to questions that said something along the lines of "i am a new graduate looking for my first job...however, based on my clinical experience i can relate to the situation outlined because..." this has been perfectly acceptable.

i am two weeks away from completing four classes and so far i have been very pleased with the program. like all online programs, some weeks are busier than others but we get through it. i have moments where i am frustrated to be spending my free time studying (again!) but i know this has been a great choice for my career. i plan on taking two courses most sessions, but i may have to scale back when i finally start working (in 3 weeks, woo-hoo!).

good luck with your decision!

p.s. love your screen name :D

@RNTriathele It's good to hear that there is someone else that has to state...my experience is in the clinical setting.... I felt a little self conscious at first being a new ASN graduate in the RN-BSN program. But I am finding the fact that I rolled right into the classes seems easier for me then others in my class that are just restarting going back to school.

Two weeks until my semester ends...so far so good. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the feedback!! Glad to hear that the program is good so far for the two of you! I have decided to apply and hopefully I can gain employment as an RN in the next few months.

I guess my last question would be regarding the clinical hours for those two classes is would I have to go find a clinical site on my own? I work for a hospital but I work on the outpatient side as a clerk and work with RNPs. Sorry I am still a little confused as to these "hours". Do you have to have them signed off by an RN such as a preceptor like during nursing school?

Thanks again for helping me understand all this :)

I work full time and was wondering was it doable? Is anyone else starting Jan. 16, 2012? It would be nice to go thur the progam with somebody? Also could somebody tell me some the intense classes, would love a heads up on those so i can know how to schedule my job time. thanks

Hi 2BlessedRN, I applied to UTA and am waiting for my acceptance from the nursing program. I have a question for you. I got my transfer credit report but am unable to figure out what classes they accepted and how many I have left. If you know can you tell me how to read the report.

Thanks so much and good luck.

When you are accepted and have an advisor, they will send you a Course Map. That will tell you what classes you have received credit for and what classes you need to take and when they're next offered.

Thank you both. I added the UTA email address to my iphone and have been checking it everyday.

Did either of you have any issues with them not accepting classes?

They only had a question about one class, but I sent them the course description from my old college to review--they decided that my class was satisfactory and accepted it.

I didnt, all my classes were accepted. The only non-nursing classes i have to take is technical writing and texas history classes. How did you get uta email on your iphone? I tried and couldnt get it.
