Research starting 2/23

Thought I would start a thread for the 2/23 research class. Who all is taking it then??

My friend who is currently in the course said there is no more group work. It is, however, still very time consuming.

Anyway, good luck!

Hi!

I am also starting this class on 2/23. I'm so glad there is someone who knows something about the course. There have been so many horror stories about the group work. Do you know if it is similar to the other classes now, where you can complete things at your own pace? We will have to help each other out with moral support.

I am considering changing my schedule and bumping Holistic Assessment up to start 2/23 also. Is that insane? So far, I have been able to double up and finish the bulk of the work in about 3-4 weeks, but it has been all-consuming. I just want to get this done!

Any advice from anyone would help!

Thanks!

Taking research as well 2/23, although I am just taking one class at a time I am concerned about working full time for the time being.

My friend that was telling me about it said he just dedicated 2 days to it a week. About 12 hours weekly, and he was fine I will see if he can email me the syllabus. I haven't looked to see if it has posted on my Mymav yet. I would like to see what days discussions are due and when assignments due dates are. Just one week of a little freedom!

RnBound0510,

Thanks! Seeing the due dates, etc. would really be helpful.

I think it is frustrating that we cannot see the syllabus ahead of time to help us decide these things. Have you already taken Holistic Assessment? I wonder if they are equally painful? These are my last two nursing classes before Capstone. (Saved the best for last!) :nailbiting:

Yes, let's enjoy this week of freedom!

RNBound0510 -

Thanks for starting the thread! I will be joining in on the "time consuming" work of Research 2/23 also. Looking forward to "knowing" some people in class.

Good luck all!!!

What is everyone doing related to textbooks, study guides, access codes?

Welcome DingerRN!

Nice to know we will all be in this together for the next 5 weeks! I rented the textbook, "Understanding Nursing Research" from Amazon for $29. I bought the Study Guide (to keep) from Evolve for $28., because it was the same price as renting it. I guess I will wait and see if we need any additional study aids...does anyone else know about that?

Hello! I too am enrolled in Research 2/23 /15 and I'm also taking Cooperative nursing work experience. I hope I didn't take on too much. So glad these groups exist so we can all at least vent and discuss our ideas on the class. These two are my final courses then capstone. Ah Good luck everyone :)

How's it going? What do y'all think so far??

Hi all!

I was just wondering the same thing.

The first week was ok, but I started trying to work ahead a little and it is NOT FUN. So much seems to be vague and not straightforward. I usually know if I have the right answers to something, but this is about as clear as mud. I actually found some more helpful explanations on the internet, than in our assigned material. All I can say is be extremely careful and read, reread and reread your answers.

Anyone else tried looking into the next couple of weeks yet? What do the rest of you think?

I'm totally not liking research. It would be nice if after our second attempt we could at least know what we got wrong... first classes in the program i wanted to get all A's... now I just want to pass and get on to the next course. Someone tell me this is doable.
