Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello to all who be starting the RN-BSN program at UTA on August 13!

Started this thread so we can help each other out as questions arise during the course.

I will be working full-time and have a 21 month old at home. He is very easy going :) Hubby is very loving and supportive as well. Good luck to everyone!! :nurse:

ScarletFire,

Well, we did it! I am glad I have started this process of obtaining my BSN. One class down for me. Should we start a new thread for our next class starting November 5th. I don't know how to start a new thread? Please keep in touch!

Amy, How are you? Hope all is going well for you as well. I may need to bend your ear about future classes:)!

Sure thing! Will start a thread for N3325 the first of November. Getting started is the hardest part

Hello, everyone! I just finished with Professional Nursing A and getting ready for Professional Nursing B. I have a question for those that are further along in the program. Have you taken more than one class at a time?

Hi rosemary,

Yeah, I'm glad it's over. I think in comparison to some other classes, A/B was pretty easy, but mostly my feeling about it is that 10 weeks was way too long. Towards the end, I just got sick of it. Amy and a few others from here are taking N3325 w/ us in Nov and Amy said she will start a new thread for it. Oh, looks like she already replied. Have a nice week off.

Stay well.

How do we find our grades on mymav? We have to turn in our grades to our employer to obtain reimbursement! Our grades may not be posted yet, but just need to know where to find them on mymav!

Thankds

Not sure if this is the only way, but, you go to My Mav >>> Student Center>>> on Left side is little rectangle with the words "other academic". Click, open to find "Grades". Chose "Grades" and it will open for you to find courses with the grade listed. I assume can just print this page. let me know if this works.

Thanks ScarletFire, It worked. Doesn't look like my grade has posted yet, but now I will be able to find it! Really enjoying a week without homework. Could get used to this! See you in 3325!!!

wish I could say the same. i'm taking med term as well as US gov and both started oct 22. been doing nothing except working and school stuff trying to get ahead before N3325 starts on Mon. I don't know why I got myself into taking 3 classes at a time, but I did. Lots of people here have done much more and survived, so i can, too. plus, i was worrying about family on the east coast. ok now, but had no power since Monday and there was nothing i could do except hope for the best.

see you later.

Hello, everyone! I just finished with Professional Nursing A and getting ready for Professional Nursing B. I have a question for those that are further along in the program. Have you taken more than one class at a time?

Yes: after I finished 3645, I doubled-up on classes until this last class--I decided I needed to cut myself some slack towards the end of the year. It's hard to double-up, especially if you are working, but it's doable. I really wouldn't recommend going more than 2 classes at a time, though.

Also, if you haven't taken either of the US History classes (HIST 1311 and 1312), both are fairly intense classes and are very time-consuming. The volume of reading in each is staggering, and there is lots of writing to be done. Even with cutting corners where I can, I still clock about 20+ hours on that class alone. I'd really be careful about what classes you pair with them...you may even want to consider taking them by themselves. I took 1311 with nursing classes--went crazy a lot of the time but I made it. I decided to take 1312 alone and keep some of my sanity :)

The government courses (POLS 2311 and 2312) are not as labor intensive--you could pair them with nursing classes easily...or even take the two of them together as I did. That actually worked out well since a lot of material is shared between the two classes.

Don't know what the other non-nursing classes are like so I can't tell you how they are for doubling up on.

Thanks so much, Meriwhen!! You're awesome!! I have already taken both Histories and both Governments. I just have to take College Algebra, Statistics, an upper English Literature, and a Nursing elective as far as my general courses go. If I may ask, as far as the nursing courses, which did you pair together?

Hello to you all. I have applied to UTA, but have not made a decision between UTA, Grand Canyon U, or South U. After reading your posts, all of which I find very informative as well as refreshing to see you all helping one another; I have two worries.

One is that the coach doesn't seem to be of much help. The second is your questions about pairing classes. Doesn't an academic advisor give you an idea of classes that can or should be taken together?

I wish you all well in your classes.

Hi flymedicRN24,

can only speak for myself on this, but my advisor hasn't been much help to me regarding anything I needed. Not responsive to phone or e:mails. Had trouble getting a class accepted due an error made by the registrar's office and the advisor did nothing to fix the problem. However, not all are the same and I have read lots of posts from others who have received advice and help when needed.

The same goes for coaches. Some are ok, some good, some bad, some very bad. Why do you think we are all here? I don't know what I would do w/out allnurses and this forum. We are strangers, but the support, advice, suggestions, and help is awesome. I've "met" some great nurses here. The attitude is that if you are helped, you pay it forward some other time. Restores my faith in humanity.

I know nothing about Grand Canyon U or South U, so cannot advise. I would welcome you here and promise you will have lot of friendly helpful interactions.

Is taking NURS 3645 and ENGL 2338 (technical writing) at the same time do-able?
