Current LVN looking into BSN online

Has anyone applied and been accepted to the BSN online program who is currently an LVN? I was wondering how it works as far as the classes you take. Do you get credit for the LVN courses taken? I really think this program is do able for me I was just curious about that process.

I would be very surprised if you got credit for your LPN courses in a BSN program. Remember that for the BSN, or even a ADN RN program, you will be looking at clinicals in Peds, OB, and mental health at a minimum.

Ok thanks for the heads up! I was thinking more than likely not but just wanted to check. I currently work in an OB office and pedi home health on the weekend, so I am not worried about that. Med surg on the other hand scares me!! I am just so ready to move on to the next step!

Keep in mind that some states will mandate that LVN-RN programs have additional clinical time regardless of whether it is is to ADN or BSN. Some programs like Excelsior are no longer accepted as the initial RN training in some states like California if the program was started after a certain date (either 2003 or 2006, I forget which).

I'm an lvn too and I have applied for the ap accelerated online bsn. I have a previous bachelor's, so that helps with course requirements. I do not think that my status as an lvn has any bearing on my application, though. For sure none of that credit transferred or counted for anything.

How does the online program work? How are clinicals done?

Valerie, not sure about clinical yet. I am under the impression that they are on weekends.

Ah ok. I'm interested getting my BSN. If you go through the program let me know how it is. :)

ed, what term will you apply for? the school is pretty slow processing applications for admission. I waited at least 2 months to just be accepted to uta. now waiting for acceptance into the bsn for this fall.

I am applying for the Spring 2015 at least I hope, the deadline is June 1st hopefully that is enough time! When did you originally apply to uta?
