2017 CURRENT RN to BSN Online Students

  1. Hi Everyone!

I am currently in the RN to BSN Program. I am looking to see who else is currently in the program or just finished so we can share some experiences as we go through it! I just finished Technical Writing and Transition to Professional Nursing. They were the easiest As I've ever received. I struggled with meeting deadlines though. You really do need to stay on top of assignments and not wait until the last minute like I did a few times. I found the courses easy as long as you completed everything. I also thought the content and assignments were great. I learned a lot. Grading was easy as long as you follow the rubric.

I start Legal Policy and Promoting Healthy lifestyles next on July 3rd. Has anyone taken these? Legal sounds intimidating but I'm hoping it's not too bad. I like that it uses the same book we have already purchased for Transition to Professional nursing.

Hello, I'm currently enrolled in the program as well and just finished Trch writing, Transition to Prof nursing, and legacy of the family. For the most part it was easy, but you have to prioritize. I will enroll in 2 classes for the Aug start. Haven't decided which 2!

Hi! Have your grades been officially posted yet? I need to send official grades to my company for reimbursement but they haven't been posted on my transcript yet. How was legacy of the family? I didn't realize we could take 3 classes at once!

I recently enrolled. I start technical and role transformation on Jul 3. I loved online during prerequisites so I'm glad your saying it's easy! Hope to share more with you! Good luck this term.

Thanks! They really were easy as long as you follow the Rubric and make sure you give them everything they're asking for to get full points. I'm taking Legal Aspects and Promoting Healthy Lifestyles right now and was so nervous about the Legal class. But the grading seems as easy as my last two classes so I'm really happy about that. Good luck to you as well!

I would not suggest taking Holistic Health Assessment, Vulnerable Health Populations, Nursing Management, or Nursing Research with any other class. I have taken Health Assessment and Vulnerable Populations and passed with A's but the classes are very heavy. I am currently taking Nursing Management. Taking this class with another is feasible but I'd only suggest doing so if you absolutely most. Several of my colleagues have told me not to take Nursing Research with another course because it is heavy - I have heard that recommendation from everyone so I'm passing it along.

I started this summer. Holy smokes. I'm in holistic care of older adults and research right now. It's a lot of work, and the stupid history class requirements almost made want to quit the whole program.

Only 8 more classes to go... (heavy sigh...)

I had to take HIST1312 (US since 1865) and its the only B I've received in the program so far. The grading was almost on a Master's level for an entry level history class - it was ridiculous. I just completed Statistics (MATH1308) which is A LOT of work but not particularly hard, just a time commitment. I'm in Nursing Management and so far not difficult, just a lot of busy work and APA expectations.Follow what they say to the "T" on the syllabus and you'll be fine. I also just had to take that silly entry level ENG1302 (Comp II) because when I took it originally at FSU it was more presentation based than paper based so they didn't accept the credit. How ridiculous is that? Still researching and writing. I finally gave up fighting it because it was going to interfere with me moving forward on classes and graduating. All I have left after this is POLS2312, Nursing Research, and Capstone. So ready to be done.

That's awesome! I took all my pre reqs 10 years ago after high school and they were all accepted so I've only had to do the nursing classes. Did you take 2 classes at a time? I'm trying to figure out how many credits I'm allowed to take in the fall. I just want it done asap. Hey love- are research and holistic the first nursing courses you're taking in the program? I was told to start with transitions and tech writing.

I took transition to professional nursing first (the first summer session) and another course that I took at another institution was accepted for my technical writing course.

I take two a time, and with 5-week long sessions, things move very quickly. I think I will be taking five classes in the fall - four 5-week long classes (2 classes the first session and then 2 classes the second sessoin) and one 8 week long classes. Sorry if that's confusing.

That's great!! The legal class I'm taking now is a breeze. The grading isn't difficult at all. Health promotions is more work I think but still easy. I'm nervous about research and management. Do you have to shadow and nurse manager for the management course?

I don't know about the management course, I'm planning to take it in the fall. Research is a LOT of work. I'm not such a great online-student so it has been especially difficult for me to stay on top of assignments, and there are a lot. I just have a hard time staying focused when there are so many other fun things I could be doing this summer with my kids.
