UK Student looking to study nursing in US-Please help!!

If looking at the long run to live in the US then LPN/LVN isn't going to do it for you regarding immigration. You will need to meet pre requisites and also pay international fees which will be a lot. Doubt MA will also meet immigration requirements. Best things really is consider RN in the UK and then look at immigration working once you have experience. Currently looking at several years waiting for the US and expect things to stay the same for a while yet. I doubt there is financial aid to assist you

foreigns are always going to pay more. theres such a long wait to be accepted into the lvn or rn programs that its better to pay for a private accrediated college. theres financial assistance out there once you are accepted into a college.I myself plan on paying for a private college, as I dont have the time to waste waiting to get in. I figure 20grand is a small price to pay, plus you dont have to start paying back your loans until your working. good luck!

International students do not qualify for loans. You will be paying about $20K for LPN school or MA school.

I would try to apply to a BSN program as an international student and see if you qualify for a scholarship. And as mentioned you will have to return home after school is complete.

As far as i'm aware there isn't any financial aid available to international students.

I'm in the same boat as you, i have a BSc from the UK and i've applied to nursing schools.

Best thing to do is maybe apply for the accelerated BSN degree or a masters entry into nursing degree for students with a bachelors degree in another field other than nursing.

To be honest, it's all going to cost A LOT of money for an international student regardless of what degree program you look at.

Kathleen, I wondered if you would fill me in on what course you are doing

I am moving to Usa in summer from UK. I want to do nursing however from the research I have been doing it seems very hard to get on a course to do Rn or Bsn. Most colleges I have spoken to do a lottery system for admission due to volume of applicants. I read that you a paying privart . I found one privart college that was charging $32,000 just for Voc nurse course. Could you tell me what course your doing and at what college ?
This is flustrating me so much, so any info I can get I would appreciate.

Not true - there are student visas for this precise purpose.

Be aware that you may have to pay International fees to start with especially if they have some sort of residency requirements. Also will be very expensive and most require some pre requisites completing before allowing you to get onto the nursing course
