How long you have to wait to get into nursing program in Collin County / North Dalla?

I am RN. Enjoy it very much. My wife now wants to be a RN. With economy is in recession, I am sure a lot of people trying to get into nursing program. I need your suggestions to know which nursing school in DFW area has relatively short wait list, or no wait list. Your suggestions are appreciated.

There really are not waitlists anywhere in the Dallas area (I know for sure at Collin County and TWU). You have to reapply every application semester if you did not get into the program. It is just extremely competitive.

The nursing programs with the least competition in the DFW area tend to be the ones with the most pricey tuition such as TCU (Texas Christian University) and Southwestern Adventist University. Since community college nursing programs are so very affordable, they tend to be swamped with many applicants for so very few slots.

Also, Dallas Nursing Institute is a private trade school that is offering a brand-new RN program starting in January 2010, although applicants need to possess an LVN/LPN license to get admitted.

Like Rha_Hea said, there isn't an actual waiting list at Collin County. If you're not accepted, you're placed on a waiting list for that semester only in case any spots open up, but then you have to reapply the next semester.

That being said, I got in the 1st time I applied. They go by a point system, with a max of 16. I had 15 points.

Good luck to your wife!
