Hello all, and Happy Holidays!!! Just wanted to know what other travellers do with all their licenses once the assignment is up. Do you keep them? Let them lapse?

What about CEs while on assignment? Do you get the amount of CEs required while you are in that state? What does everyone do?

Thanks!:heartbeat

If you no longer need a particular license, it is always preferable to place it on "inactive status" than to simply allow it to lapse. If you allow it to lapse, and need to renew it in the future, you may be required to pay significant financial penalties that would not apply if it had been made inactive.

In most cases, the CEUs you earn for one state can be applied to the others, so there isn't too much of an additional burden to maintain CEUs for multiple states.

Keeping track of all the expiration dates and other licensing requirements can be pain, though. I held 5 licenses at one time, but have whittled that down to 2 now.

I agree, never let your liscense lapse. Just place it to inactive.

I renew my licenses, there are states that frown on inactive or lapsed licenses when you apply for their license. Plus, it's a great write off at tax time.
