I have taken the test once, without any warning! It was very frustrating. The person who gave directions on how to take this test, said we would see an example of what it is like and then the test would start. Obviously that didnt happen or maybe it did. It is very possible it did but it was so quick I did not know and I missed it. Needless to say I missed the first senario. I took this for an assignment in Arizona, for one of the SunHealth facilities in 2007. I agree it was awful and does not validate your ability (or lack of) to provide good nursing care. I think I passed. They said they used it to provide the hospital's educator information on areas of weakness to gear your orientation towards your needs. I think it was a story, because I really didnt have much of an orientation anyways. I have also heard of people, travelers, sent home because did not pass!

There is no way to study for it, the only thing you can do is pick general diagnosis: PE, cardiac tamponade, DVT, Stroke, MI, CHF, COPD and know the standard line of treatment for it and describe it quickly and very elementary like....enter room, apply oxygen, call for help, obtain vitals, deligate someone to start IV, anticipate MD ordering ABG and CXR (or whatever) and page MD, Blah blah blah....again you only have five minutes. Stare at the screen the whole time. Dont look down. Mine was all computerized, so I had to type my answers in these columns that were all mixed up. One column would be must do, should do, could do if had time...or something along those lines.

    Hope this helps

I hope advantage RN never has to "fight" for a critical patient like he/she fought for you ! How lame and unprofessional to wait 3 weeks.

YES GOD HAD A PLAN FOR ME..UNEMPLOYMENT FOR 3 MONTHS...there wer no contracts available within my 500 mile radius for me (which includes 3 states by the way)...and you are exactly right, IT WAS THIER LOSS...NIGHT SHIFT NURSE WITH 25 YEARS ED EXPERIANCE OF LEVEL 1 AND 2 TRAUMA...and now that i have not worked for three months i have to reapplied to the company....in the mean time i had pout in 19 appllications locally and had three interviews....REALLY???? 3????....
i have learned my lesson..never let your travel agency continue to tell you THEY GOT YOUR BACK AND ARE WORKING ON IT...
I UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM ...
YOUR PROFILE IN ON THE CEO/MGR DESK WAITING TO BE APPROVED....
take the reigns in your hands and looke for a job yourself and apply, market yourself and hold your head up high.....
i depleted my savings, my checking, lost the cable, telephone and my motorcycle all becasue my agency WAS WORKING ON IT...
my house is on the line right now.............BUT.....................
I took my own advise, after just sitting here waiting, and marketed myself...found a job and start on wednesday..hopefully it is time to save my house.....and yes i am the only income...single mom, 5 kids....
DON'T THINK YOUR AGANCY HAS YOUR BACK FOR A MINUTE...........

Aaaaaaargh! My computer jumps around at will making weird sentences and words. I have heard that Supplemental is best. What is your experience?

hehe...i guess just like anywhere your job is how you make of it. i have worked for the same RN travel agency for 6 years...had my ups and downs with them....MY recruiter has been totally cool and there for my at all times...i have had problems with housing and after 3 years in refused to have anything to do with them...nothing personal, just the people. i had been there longer than some of the housing and recruiters, so of course i had my favs...i would get what i wanted done or i would show up at the office ....at one point as soon as i walked thru the front door...whoever i had a beef with knew i was there as i rounded the corner to the cubicle...got to love technology,,,,and they knew i was NOT HAPPY...
but all in all i loved my agency, i was able to sit and talk with the CEO...knew 90% of the personnel there...
now I talke with some travelers and they have had problems with the same company...(page 5)...recruiter problems and pay problems..i just knew what i wanted and fought to get it....eventually it led to my unemployment for the past 3 months because i wanted out of the state I was in due to cost...VERY EXPENSIVE to live there..i was not only paying for my mortgage and bills at my homestead, but equivelent to for an apartment, it put me in the hole BAD...and all i got was .."i feel ya"...well unless you have two houses and two utility bills and groceries at two different locations...no you don't know how things are on the road...get me the heck outta here!!!!!!!!!! I MADE THAT HAPPEN....
SO....i start my new job this week, permenant, in my state, 30 miles from my house and i couldnt be more happy...except i have to play catch up with the bills and try to save my house...oh well...it too will come...
