Hello everyone:)

I'm leaving at the end of this month to drive from Washington State (Seattle) to Corpus Christi, Tx. I would like to know if anyone has made tihs trip, or have any suggestions as to which route I should take. I hate driving...but I have no other choice except to pay about $900.00 to have it transported..! Anyway...if someone has a suggestion/advice...I would appreciated it very much..:). When I drove up here I came through Ok., CO., Wy., Montana, and ID. Montana was about the only saving grace during the whole trip, and it took me 4 days. I would like to do it thorogh the Cali, and the southwest this time...but not sure how long it would take. Mapquest and Expedia send me back just about the way I came.

Does anyone know another way?

Thank you in advance....

And boy do I know that route. I grew up in Poulsbo and every year we made the rip to my sisters place in Corpus...I used Mapquest because I know the road numbers have changed. Go to the website and use the road trip planner and enter the cities in the order I listed. In both cases ignore the trip overveiw option...it looks like you are doubling back a couple of times.

The 'direct' route: (2633 miles, 44 hours)

From Seattle WA To: Los Angeles CA, San Antonio TX, Corpus Christi TX

The senic route: (3173 miles, 58 hours)

Seattle to: Weed CA, Susanville CA, Reno NV, Las Vegas NV, Kingman AZ, Amarillo TX, San Antonio TX, Corpus Christi TX

Good luck, we are probably going to drive the family to Byron, OK this spring...we (DH & I) usually fly without the kids but they want to go see their 'bare foot cousins' in AK this year.

I will take the senic route...and Iwill be singing your praises all the way. My daughter wants to see Vegas, and I had met a traveler who was from Kingman, and I couldn't remember how she said to go...but I'm so glad you did!!:)

Ya'll ain't from the Pacific NW are you? Liberty Bay (us old natives still call it Dog Fish Bay-'cuz its full of them) ain't cold...I grew up SKINNY DIPPING in it. You aught to find your way over in May for the Viking Fest...PARTY!!!

I'm going up for 3 days this August for my 20 year HS reunion.

You know before I took my "drink"..we saw some salmanon...big huge ones...what are "Dog fish"?? Also saw a red jellyfish. And tis cold...LOL!

Can't make the Fest this year...will hopefully be gone at the end of the month.. Thanks for the route and the tip..:)

Dog fish are a kind of shark...kinda small lazy garbage eatting ones, maybe a variety of 7 gill sharks (been a long time since I hung out at the marine science center) the closest they come to biting is stealing your catch off the back of the boat. Back in the 70s some company was harvesting them for export to the UK...seems they make good fish and chips (gag-gag-gag).

Now I'm homesick...and I miss all those sad, fresh young sailors, so far from home and in need of some TLC. D**n to be young and single again!
