Vegas Conference anyone?

I haven't registered yet, but once my closing date is set in stone next week, I am going to register. Who else from here is going? A friend of mine is going with or without me, but if I can go, we may trek over to CA after the conference and try to get things expedited with obtaining a CA license :)

Eta: needing BLS, ACLS or PALs? Get 'er done at the conference this year :)

I can't go this year, my assignment hospital cannot let me off. There is a small possibility I will still participate in the negotiating workshop if the technology behaves, times are compatible, and a few other things. Very small possibility perhaps.

I would recommend registering earlier than later, it sold out last year by Sept 1. There is a PanTravelers discount as well you might get, I'm not sure if it is for all registered members or just paying ones. I do know there is a link that will be visible on the left when you are logged in if eligible.

Great idea about the California license. Doing the Livescan in state will definitely help speed your application.

Darn, wish u were going. I will register next week, hopefully it won't be sold out. I am not sure what I expect to get out of this aside from networking. I kinda envision be surrounded by a bunch of car salesmen. I hope this all pans out. Aside from a notebook, what else should I bring? Resume, letters of reference?

Swimsuit for hotel pools. Dress up clothes for the parties. Questions. No need for resumes.

I thought the first conference would be a little uncomfortable surrounded as it was by agency booths, but it was quite laid back. Last year was much the same, although I was struck by how many not yet traveled there were. Recruiters were friendly and not pushy, and hung out at their booths. Since agencies are sponsors, this can lead to some conflicts on a traveler centered conference. A couple sponsors listened to the negotiating workshops and complained that I was encouraging playing off one agency against another, but the organizers backed me (and I was in fact respectful as always of agencies being necessary to the process). A good many agencies were also speakers and added a lot of value to the conference.

Highway Hypodermics and PanTravelers will have booths, and last year the NNA had a booth (the nationwide nurses union). Sometimes there are vendors selling scrubs. Could be almost anyone you might find at a nursing or healthcare conference.

I'm going and I can't wait. I traveled for 3 years and have since taken a permanent job back home. I am thinking about traveling in my new specialty of case mgt and wanted to see the opportunities available in that area. I've never gone to the conference before so I'm looking forward to it

I'm going. From speaking with past attendees the conference is well worth attending for all travelers and dreamers. Can't wait to network with other travelers and speak to some of the sponsors.

A bit off topic, but did you see the discussion on Delphi about old timers not participating anymore? Sad what has happened there. I moved over here as the best option for me (not having tried Facebook).

No I haven't seen that one yet. My visits there have been kind of sporadic of late.

I am going. I tried to go last year but it was already sold out. I am very excited for the Newbie Seminar they have since I am not yet a travel nurse. Lots of questions I have...:)

For California license, I thought they no longer did walk through? I was going to do it when I was there earlier this month but the website said they stopped it, or so I thought. Or is this something different you are referring to with your RN license?

No, it is not a walkthrough. But you can expedite a license application by doing LiveScan in state.
