DO you have to have a BSN to be a travelling nurse? What other jobs can I do as a travelling nurse?

Default Re: Traveling nurse requirements
From my experience with travelling you just have to be an RN with usually 1 year experience with floor nursing or aprox. 2 years of ICU nursing experience. It does vary with different companies. I got my first travel job with 1.5 years experience. It is usually the hardest to get your first assignment because a lot of hospitals like to see that you have at least done one assignment. But the companies do work with you and will find you a hospital that will take you.Travelling companies like to hire you in whith what you are experienced in. For example, my traveling company gave me only PICU jobs because that is all that I have ever worked. They didn't encourage me to go to adults or some would not let me etc.(BSN does not make a difference, or I have never been asked so I assume it is not of any importance.) Good LucK! I hope I helped you out a little.
