I am a mom and I want to be a traveler one day, not soon, within the next 2 years though. The only downfall is I have a son. I have only ever heard of single people or older couples whose kids have moved out traveling.

Anyone out there travel with families? Or should I just let my dream go for now?

i personally haven't traveled with a family, but a good friend did. she, her husband and two school age children traveled for a year and had a fabulous time! my friend worked while her husband home schooled the kids, and they saw the sights on her days off. she's back at home now, and says she misses traveling! i think child care will be an important consideration for you, but if you can work that out somehow, go for it!

I have worked with several single travel nurses that have children. Most pick a area to stay for at least nine months so that the child can attend school in the same place, and if younger, you just need to ge tchild care.

Never an issue for them.

This is my dream. I want my children to see the United States. I have even thought of buying an rv to live in. Who cares about a house! I would just need to find an area to park it. My mother thinks its a great idea, and my husband thinks I've gone mad.

I also would like to travel with my 13yr old son. He loves New York and states he would like to go to school there when I start traveling. I think at this time though, I will have to leave my son and husband behind to travel. I need to see how this is going to work out for my family and myself first. I'll be starting in Sept/Oct. of this year and will finally be living my dream. I can't wait, but am very nervious also. Good luck on your travels.
