I am a recently graduated Canadian nurse currently working on a pediatric oncology/hematology ward. We also occasionally get other general medical patients. I am in a term position, at the end of which I would like to do some nursing work overseas. At that time I will have had one years experience as an RN.
My question is, does anyone have suggestions on how to go about doing this? Any good agencies they know of, or any programs that offer nursing work abroad? Ideally, I'm looking for a placement that would be a few months long as it would be my first time, and hopefully some sort of help with housing as well. I'm looking to nurse but also to meet other nurses like myself, and to travel around the area on my time off. Basically, I don't want to be plopped into an unknown country knowing no one and left to totally fend for myself! I can also speak french, but would probably need to brush up with lessons if I were to be placed in a french-speaking area.
Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
