I am interested in travel nursing but do not know where to begin. I am independent and I am used to city life in Los Angeles so I know I can do it but I am quiet/shy and I think I will end up in a new city, lost and alone. I am trying to stick to bigger cities like San Fran/New York/Chicago, etc. for transporation reasons mostly but also I like city life.
Does anyone know a travel nurse site or agency where people can buddy up with another person to travel? It might sound dumb but if two nurses went together to the same hospital or even roomed together then it would be easier for someone like me...I think there are others like me...lol. The only nurses I know are from work and not personal friends so I know this would be best to find a nurse I already know and go together but no one wants to travel at my work, so here I am.
Thanks

When are you wanting to travel? I might be interested in something like that. I'm doing a travel assignment in Boston right now...

Hi there! I'm a peds nurse too and am looking to travel out to California. I'm thinking San Fran, San Diego or possibly L.A, although I think that may be your home base. I'm sort of in the same boat... trying to recruit nurse friends of mine to go along...but it looks as though I'll be a lone traveler. It will be my first assignment and I'm a little nervous doing it alone. I think a roomie who is a nurse would be a great thing!

l am in the process of doing paperwork to go take an assignment in Chicago, let me know if you are coming out that way. It is kind of nerve wracking going alone though.
I am likely heading out west...but for sure, I will keep you posted if I make it to Chicago anytime soon! Have fun and if you need a friend to vent or talk about your first travel experience, let me know. I'm with you girl! I'm working on paperwork for a start date in late August. Good luck and happy travels:)

I am a more seasoned traveler, that stopped for a while but now I am back on the road. I am 32, ICU nurse and in NY right now. Assignment ends October 18th. PM me
I am not sure when I would go. I dont feel ready yet or I do not know what is holding me back-nerves, super shy, dont know... I wanted to start asking around now because I am setting myself a deadline of starting sometime by next year or else. I am in my late 20s so I thought I would be ending my travel nursing career by now and I havent started =/

First job in Chinle, AZ, ped OP. It was scary and exciting traveling out here. Didn't think it was that hard to travel by myself, learning quickly IT IS. If you're out in this area & want to chat, let me know. :-)
