Travel Assignments in Australia???

I'm trying to find any info re: Australia travel assignments/companies. I've never traveled before and decided to try somewhere I wouldn't be able to see otherwise. ANY advise about traveling in general, and specifically any good companies would be sooo appreciated. I'm scared of that first step, and hope you guys can help get me jump-started. Thanks!!

I don't know if Americans can do travel assignments there. One of my Canadian friends did what was similar to travel nursing, but that was with a working holiday visa for citizens of commonwealth countries under a certain age only.

Was going to travel to Australia with GLOBAL MEDICAL. I submitted all kinds of documents and still had many more to go. All of a sudden the phone calls and e-mails stopped on their end. I decided I'd wait to see how long it would take some one to get back to me. That was in Aug. 2006 and I'm still waiting... I'll mark them off of my list!
