St. David's North vs Seton Main

Hi there! I've got offers from separate companies regarding working L&D at St. David's North and Seton Main in Austin, TX. Curious as to what other's experiences there were as a traveler, and if one facility would be better to work at over the other. Any advice would be helpful so I can decide which company to go with regarding each facility.

I have never traveled there however some travelers I work with say that with Seton they just didn't float between units at the hospital they floated between other Seton hospitals. Just make sure you read your contract. Of course specialty can make all the difference, my friends speciality was ICU

This is true but not for L&D; they stay too busy to send you anywhere else! And those floaters know that when then sign their contracts. I did a contract at Seton in the spring. It was a great learning experience for me. Not sure right now is the best time to go however. A lot have senior nurses have left recently, they've got tons of new grads (not exactly the only help you want on a busy night shift!) and they are working with interim management as the manager and director left around the same time in April. Not sure if you've worked in the south, but a lot of their practices regarding induction/augmentation are not quite up to date (docs pretty much control everything). Overall, it wasn't my favorite assignment but I've heard of worse. The staff is very welcoming and ready to help (although most of those I speak of have left! lol) HTH
