signing on as core staff, what to do?

Hey,
I am a travel nurse that has traveled for approx. 2 1/2 years and am thinking about settling down as a staff member. I just have one problem, they pay is not as good. Everytime I try to even negatiate with the nurse managers at different locations I have traveled, it seems like they cannot even compare the the wondeful benefits, hour wages, and housing expense that travel companies pay for. Do you ever come up against this problem? I just don't think it would be to my benefit to ever become a staff member because I will always be taking a cut in pay, and not just a small cut in pay, a large one. What have you done to over come this problem when you find a place you like and would like to become staff?

Staff nursing is just not as profitable as travel nursing, from what I have seen.

I worked at one place enough to keep benefits and worked agency or PRN elsewhere as a way to make more money.

Hope you get this all figured out! Good luck.
