Should I be worried?

I am on my first assignment. 4 weeks in on a 13 week. Tuesday I was sent home after 8 hours on a 12 hour shift and today I was called off. I informed them both times that my hours are guaranteed and I would be paid regardless, to give them a chance to allow me work, but no go. Should I be worried about my contract? It is in my contract that if I get cancelled for any reason, I am responsible for the cost to the company. In truth, I am very worried. Would really appreciate some words of wisdom from an experienced traveler.
Thanks,
Kerrie

If your hours are guaranteed in your contract, then you will be paid for the hours even if the facility cancels them.

If you are scheduled for 48, then you should be paid for the 48. Used to have this happen every so often, and actually liked it as I still got paid for the 48 hours for the week.

You may just wish to check with your agency on this and what they do.

If you have "guaranteed: hours in writing, then you should have nothing to worry about. I believe the cancellation issue the agency is referring to, is being canceled for cause, which happens all too often. Many agencies will immediately try to find you more work quickly if the issue is not serious. Sometimes facilities will canceled because they no longer need the travel nurse, and they might think they need to make up a reason to get rid of the nurse. This is not necessary, but they do it.

I have been in same situation you are, where I was canceled with guaranteed hours, and over and over told the facility that they would still be billed for the hours in my contract. So if they don't take advantage and use you, enjoy!

I'd defintiely call your recruiter and let her know, but of course gaurenteed hours are gaurenteed....This week they were trying to sned home nurses left and right (Never good at the beginning of an Emergency Dept shift, go figure) but all the travelers stayed, and of course within a few hours, they wished they hadn't sent anyone home.
