Is it really all it is cracked up to be?

So what I am wondering is...why doesn't everyone do travel nursing if it really does offer all you hear? Do they really pay you more per hour...and pay for housing? Do you get benefits? Do they pay for your moving expenses? What are the downsides, I haven't heard any! Please help I am very interested.

One of the biggest cons of travel nursing is no vacation days or sick days for the most part. You are expected to be there when scheduled. Benefits are typically offered by your company, not by the hospital. The big con for me, is having to be incredibly scrupulous of offers you may get; and having to watch your back as far as recruiters, hospitals, etc. You are responsible for your best interest.

Also, because you aren't regular staff, you might get floated first, crappier assignments and your contract could get cancelled for any reason. Doing taxes is a PIA, and there is a ton of paperwork before you can even get submitted to jobs.
