can anyone help me with the prophecy pharmacology exam B v3???

Anyone have any new info or helpful tips regarding these Assessments? I am required to take them before receiving an interview at a hospital in my area.

Hi- I just took RN Pharmacology A v1 for a staffing agency position. The test was harder than I thought, even though I really studied for it. I've been a nurse for 30 years, but no recent floor or ICU.

The first test I got 65%. Second time I passed with 97%. If it helps, Prophecy provided a link to a Table of Contents on areas to study. There were no details, just an outline. Studied like crazy; obviously didn't help much the first time! After I got a look see at the test and knew better what to expect, I had the agency reset the test and scored 97%. Questions were pretty similar with a few new ones thrown in. I agree with the poster that said study your wrong answers (correct answer is provided after completion of test) before you retake the test. Only had 2 opportunities to pass with minimum 80%, so I would suggest to study based on Table of Contents, then take the test. If you don't pass the 1st time, at least you've had a good look, and can better guage what to expect. If you have recent experience as a floor or ICU nurse, you can probably just go straight to the test, and repeat if needed.

Hope that helps. Good Luck!

Do they make you take this test at your travel facility once you've been hired for the assignment or is this like a pre-assignment exam? I had to take a competency exam for PCU that was super easy but I've never heard of this prophecy exam.

Prophecy (formerly nursetesting.com) is usually for agency competencies. Some hospitals use Prophecy as well, but in a forum like this the discussion will center around agency use. When you are doing competencies at the hospital, it is too late for discussion!

So, I start my assignment Monday and they just now emailed me the orientation info and it says I have to take a medication test at the facility. I don't want to assume that I fail it but what happens if I do?! This kind of stuff gives me so much anxiety.

You will take it again if you don't get an acceptable score. These tests are low stress, no one fails.

I recently got a job with Ardent health systems as a full time resource person. I have completed 2-4 of the competency test. They are tough. I have been a nurse for 23 years. I had to take the Med Surg test twice. My husband is a nurse also he was reviewing the questions with me and works on an Ortho/spine surgical unit and his response was what the ****. If you are going to take these test, do some review first. You only get to answer the question once and can not, go back and change an answer. They use NCLEX questions, but I didn't get any scenarios. Just symptoms or a diagnosis. Very indepth. I can say, If all nurse had had to do this test as there annual competency, we would have a much higher quality of staff. Doctors must repeat their MCAT's but nurse have only CEU's and honestly most of those are very basic. Maybe it's time we were all held to a higher standard. Just saying

I refuse to work anywhere they use Prophecy. Too much personality and psych type questions, and really has no bearing on what kind of nurse you are. Who calculates drip rates anymore? What, you don't have an IV pump that does it? Really? Nobody counts anyway, you eyeball it if have to use gravity. The people that make these tests are out of touch with reality and what nurses actually do. Just like in nursing school they want a "text book" answer, but that's not what or how things happen in the real world.

I just took a general Prophecy exam and hated it. It was mostly questions about body mechanics and new HIPPA laws. I got a 86% so I think maybe I passed? They didnt let me know either way as of yet. The being timed thing freaked me out and some of their terms in 25 years of nursing I have never heard of. I was given NOTHING to study ahead of time, just went in cold. This is a prerequisite to traveling so I think it is just some documentation the agency can show to prove I am a safe nurse. And in case I am a complete imbecile they can prove they did everything they could. Liability you know.

It is not a prerequisite to traveling, it is prerequisite to traveling with that agency. Your choice!
