Phi

Hi everyone,

Happy hump day

I posted this under general nursing discussions, but then realized that nurses with Travel experience would probably be able to answer my question a little better.

I was recently sent to a lab by a nursing agency for some blood work and when I asked for a copy of those lab results, they tell me they can't release them to me because they paid for it! But it's MY PHI and I should have a right to access it, correct? Can they legally withold this information from me?

I appreciate any input. This is bugging me!!

I am in the process of getting things together to go on a travel assignment. While talking to the recruiter, she told me that a lot of the agencies will hold your labwork if they pay for them. However, if you pay for them yourself, then you can do what you please with it. I am not sure if they can "legally" do this or not. But, I want to see what everyone else says?!?!?
