per diem in California Labor and Delivery

Hi all,
I am on my first assignment in Antioch and I was wondering if it would be better to apply for a per diem job then to go through my travel agency for extra hours? I love the hospital that I am in but I have been cancelled twice d/t low census. They don't cancel my regular days but they do my overtime days. Of course this is only my first week but I want to make the most of my time here and pay off as many bills as I can. Does anyone know of any places that I could try around Sacramento or San Francisco? I work L&D. Thanks
