Paid during dept closure?

by RadRN2

I have a question for travelers that work in depts that close on weekends and holidays (IR, cath lab, endo, etc). Does your travel co. pay you for the time off on a weekday holiday if your dept is closed? Are you expected to pick up time elsewhere? My current company paid me for time off over Thanksgiving when my IR dept was closed, but when I extended for another 13 week contract, they put in my contract that they weren't going to do that anymore. Not only will I be out some $$ from my paycheck, but I also run the risk of not fulfilling my contracted hours at the end of my 13 weeks. I'm wondering what the "standard" is, if there is one.
