Orlando Travel Job; Irma; Help!

  1. Hi everyone!

Just wanted to gather some feedback. So I'm supposed to be starting a contract on Sept 18th at a Orlando hospital, I spoke with my recruiter on Monday who seemed to be blowing off the idea that Orlando wouldn't be majorly effected by Irma and I seemed kinda shocked. I asked if he would follow up on it. So he hasn't heard anything from his hospital contact but he assumed things would still be good to go. I'm worried because how would Orlando be running like nothing is wrong if the rest of the state is under evac- flood- disaster area? Any insight? Tips? Thanks everyone, stay safe and happy Friday.

Your start date is over a week after Irma. Orlando is not being evacuated. It cannot be hit by a storm surge, and any wind damage will be done long before you get there. Flooding is always possible but Orlando is 82 feet above sea level versus just 7 feet average in Florida. Precipitation isn't going to drain uphill.

You should know by Tuesday if the hospital was damaged. If not, they will certainly need you!
