Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA

Anyone ever worked at this hospital? I will probably be receiving a phone call for an interview from them either today or tomorrow and it woudl be great if I knew more about them or the hospitals in Atlanta in general.

Anyone done an assignment in Atlanta? Did you love it? Hate it?

Yeah!! I found someone interested in Northside Hospital also. I will be moving to ATL in two weeks and I am trying to find the travel agency that Northside works with since Medstaff isn't one of them. I have met one lady that use to work there and she said that it was wonderful. She was a full-time nurse so I don't know if that will make a difference. I had so many questions that were burning me up one night at work, so I called up the unit and spoke with a nurse who seemed very happy to work there. Also one big positive that I found is that the Marta system stops right accross the street from the hospital which seems good since everyone complains about the traffic. If you take an assignment please let me know how it turns out. Good Luck!!

I ended up interviewing for the position and being offered it but there was confusion between the nurse manager and the human resources. Apparently the nurse manager wasn't made aware that the position was no longer available. I was told by my company that the hospital wanted to hire permanent staff but he was unaware of that. I ended up taking an assignment in Athens,GA. So far so good.

I have a friend that started with a short "local traveller" contract and ended up working there 18 months because she loved it so much! She said it was an awesome place to get experience and training. She also said that the word out was that if you trained in Northside's ICUs then you were prime for the picking at any of the other hospitals because of Northside's reputation for excellent training. Plus, Atlanta is a great town to live in with many things to do and see. I do not live there, personally, but do have friends who have lived there and they loved it.

I actually have tried to get an assignment in atl twice without success so I have given up looking and am going to AZ instead..lol. I heard from someone who has worked at several hospitals in ATL and she said she would rather work at Grady than Northside and said it wasn't a good place to work. I guess it depends on the individuals experience.

Hey I lived in ATL for over 10 years and my nephew along with probably every other baby in atl was born there. Northside is a great hospital in a great area to live in. The walls have gold crown molding! I don't know who said they'd rather work at Grady than Northside, they're nuts! Grady is a county hospital in the middle of the ghetto. You have better resources and are better staffed at Northside rather than Grady. I used to work at Children's Healthcare of ATL which is near Northside.
