I'm looking to get back into NICU with traveling. I'd LIKE to stay close to home because of my daughter but I need to get that first assignment out of the way before other places will take me. Or at least I've heard the first is the hardest one to get? What does it look like for the NICU travelers out there? Is it pretty easy to go from contract to contract? Could you get extended if you wanted to stay? Just looking for info I guess.

Thanks!

Can't speak about NICU positions all over but in CA NICU positions are pretty plentiful. I am currently on my first assignment and was able to pick and a choose my 1st assignment out of 3 offers in about 2 weeks time. I have been very happy with my choice to travel in CA thus far... Plus they have mandatory staffing laws that apply even if you are a traveler. :yeah:

Oh and there is definitely the opportunity to extend if I choose to do so....

PM me if you'd like to more info. or need help picking a company.

Enfermera, I would LOVE to hear some company suggestions! I'm also a NICU RN, with some Cath lab thrown in.

When I traveled in CA in 2006, my pay was fantastic. I got overtime for over 8 hours in a day, and over 40 in a week. Do you see that happening now?
