Specialties Travel

I'm so sorry, I know this topic has probably been discussed ad nauseum, but I am so overwhelmed by the choice of a potential travel agency that I am paralyzed by indecision. I have narrowed the field to CC Travcorps and Travel Nurses Across America. While I love that CC offers so many assignments to choose from in my specialty area (CVOR), their 'less than stellar' reviews and the general vibe (kind of harsh) I'm getting from my recruiter are a little concerning. TTNA and other highly rated, but smaller agencies that I've spoke to, on the other hand, have been exceptionally friendly, accommodating, and seem to offer better benefits, but there choice of assignments are much, much less. Also, I realize that one's first assignment may set the tone for the future, so I would like to start off on the right foot. If someone could also maybe recommend a good hospital or locale (I would like to start off in the eastern US) as a first assignment for CVOR or General Surgery, that would be much appreciated. Thank you everyone

I'd actually recommend starting with a CVOR assignment. Usually supplies are handily located and much easier orientation than general. Try interviewing for a couple three programs and pick the most straight forward one with fewer procedures. This will give you the lowest stress to get through learning new software and charting.

I started with CC but almost bailed because I really didn't communicate well with her. I finally requested a different recruiter and that worked well for almost four years. But I would keep an open mind about other agencies, if nothing else you will have a plan B and C if you sign up with several.

But the key to success at the travel game, especially early in your career is finding recruiters you can trust and communicate well with.

I can't say much since I'm not going on my first assignment until next week but......

I had a permanent job...was promised a lap top and access to CORI reports. That was back in January. I have no lap top and no access. I was on an orientation call for the travel company. I asked about direct deposit because I hadn't received a form for that. Before 3 minutes had gone by, I received an email with the form for direct deposit. I hope everything else goes as smoothly.

I posted my resume on Monster or Career Builder and have gotten inundated with emails, texts and calls from several agencies about Geisinger Health Systems in PA needing travelers the most being from Medical Staffing Options. Good luck!!
