Newbie question about first assignment

Every test I have taken for a facility, as an Agency Nurse, has been very easy... i.e. You read the testable material take the test; the test is opne book.

Ask your recruiter too...

The Critical Care exams that I have taken lately have not been that easy, I scored very well, but this is something that I teach. Others have not passed. And these exams are not open book, they are only waived if you have a current CCRN card.

The med exam I found to be very easy, at this assignment, got a 100% in under 7 minutes, I think a record for there, but there are others that have tried the exam and did not make it and were sent home.

If you are nervous, best bet is to see if you r agency can arrange for you to take at least the specialty exam before you leave. Med exams usually need to be physically done at the hopsital.

I had to test for kaiser and my recruiter sent me a practice test that was very similar to the test I had to take at the hospital. Talk to your recruiter about this.

It varies. The Florida Hospital system in Orlando, is rather strict about theirs. The ICU nurses have a study session the day before (on Sunday), and everyone takes the test on Monday. Some people failed and were put through some remediation and some were sent home, but I do not know the details. I had no trouble with the Med/Surg or medication tests. But the "study" booklet was no help whatsoever and had no resemblance to the test.

UPenn's med test was easy. I challenged(without taking their course) the Chemo test and passed, but there are travelers (and staffers) that have that have taken the course and yet failed.

Most of the med tests are easy.

The facilities that use PBDS video testing frequently send people home if they fail.....despite all the discussion about how it is merely an assessment tool.

This is but one of the reasons that it pays to have several years of experience before traveling.
