I would just pay for it, that is too small of a fee to worry about, and you can write it off. Especially if you like the agency and the recruiter. But what else are they not paying for?

The agency is preffered healthcare. Private housing is not guaranteed but i have a dog so that should not be a problem...I may have to pay the pet deposit. Well the fee in DC is 175 dollars and that is not too small.....

If they do not guarantee private housing, you could be looking at quite a sum, especially since they will definitely put you in your own place, but you will be paying the difference.

Better get that in wiriting from them, otherwise it does not exist. Even if your recruiter promised you something, but it is not in your ocntract, then it doesn't exist.

That license feee is still a small amount and you can take it off of your taxes, but I would focus more on what else that you will be paying for. More than likely, you are going to be looking at $500 per month if they do not have guaranteed private housing for you. And with a dog, many times they cannot use the properties that they normally do, so be prepared to pay for it, as well as the pet deposit fee, and perhaps even monthly rent for the pet.

Please make sure that you get everything in writing...............what about your travel reimbursment, etc?

I agree with what Suzanne said...make sure everything is in writing. For me, housing is a huge consideration...in my 7 years of traveling I have gotten screwed on this one issue a couple of times. Because of that, I will not sign with a company if they do not guarantee free private housing. There are many other companies that offer this benefit and will work with you having a dog. I'm pretty sure you'll have to pay the pet deposit and a monthly pet fee regardless of who you sign with...the important thing is to get the guaranteed free private housing in writing. I've worked with Preferred Healthcare in the past and would not recommend them. I won't go into the details here but if you'd like to talk more about it, feel free to PM me. Good luck!

They should pay at least half if not all of it. Ask them. "Do you have someone else willing to go to DC?" If they do I'd tell then "great." Then let's talk about another place with a cheaper license. Not only do you have to pay for it you have to pay for renewal if you decide to keep the license in effect. Most companies pay at least half. If you don't work for them they don't make any money off you ..Remember that. Take YOUR BUSINESS elsewhere.

Have you told the company you would rather work for that the other company you are talking to about travel assignments offers license reimbursement? License reimbursement is a small fee, that is why the company should be willing to pay for it. I think it means alot if the company is willing to negociate with you and keep you happy, especially if involves only a small fee.
