hello there all you seasoned nurses who travel - i have a couple general ???? as we face a soon emptying nest we are dreaming of travel nurse jobs. his experience is critical care-i.e er and icu. mine is er and hospice-hospice being my strong preference. we each have certifications,and about 25 yrs.experience and want to know WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF US getting jobs -esp. hospice for myself, and be on the same schedule- also are there any day/ eve jobs, or is it all nights, and all 12hr. shifts.... are there any
'quieter' small townish jobs for us getting older types?...any advice, please respond at your leisure, and THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Well I am 53 and travelling with no problems... I work nights in OB but can get day if I want it.. I just prefer nights.
I would say take the plunge and call some companies... do NOT hand out your phone number willy nilly or you will have recruiters over you like a rash.
Look at the who do you travel with thread for companies to call. As for Hospice I do not know what would happen with that.

You would need to sort out the schedule of shifts once you get to your assignment, if you could make the same facility, it would really depend how picky you are.. Others may be more help than I.

I just wanted to say age is no barrier, i know a 63 year old who is travelling

MedicalZebra FYI

On January 30, 2006 the poster you know as "MedicalZebra" passed away due to complications that followed a seeminly sucessful Mitral Valve replacement. I am her Fiance' and I must say it happened very quickly and the cardiac surgeon was truly perplexed at how they could not raise her pressure. No details to share. I know this forum was very helpful to her and a great outlet for her to explore.

Thank you all for ANY help you been to her in the time she was here.
