medassurant jobs

by pmd14

Hello I have read some of the messages regarding working for Medassurant but there were no recent ones. Is anyone working for them now? Do you like it?
My concerns are traveling and number of assignments?
I live in the NYC area and they assure me travel is limited and assignments are plentiful but I am nervous. I am getting ready to turn done a job with more guarenteed hours, better pay but not the type of work I would like to do.
Anyone have any info?
Thank you

Hi, I have been with MedAssurant for 2 wks now. I'm a RN and the recruiter for Medassurant said there was enough work in my area of Raleigh NC for a 32 hr commitment. They will consistently remind you the Hours are not quaranteed and it is a non benefited position. Listen to them and ask yourself if you can work with those limitations. I was looking for a parttime position so it was ok with me. After my initial wk long web training , passing the open book test and touching base with my assigned review coordinator I found out there are no projects currently in my area. With that said there is enough Remote home based reviews you can perform to fill your committed work hours and they expect you to work your committed hours. In my opinion it's easy CASH. I hope to get into the field eventually but reviewing charts in the comfort of my own home in my PJs is no hardship.
Good Luck

Hi, looking for anyone who currently works for MedAssurant. I have training tommorow morning. Two days ago I got an offer from another company working in office, straight 40 hrs, but will be less pay. I am so torn and I don't know what to do. My husband does have a very good job and I am extra income so it sounded good to me to go with MedAssurant, but not if I don't get any work, please help someone who is in Michigan and works for them!!!!

Hi
I started with Medassurant in February 09 and worked for them for until the end of March. It was OK. I have mixed feelings. I was suppose to work 24 hours a week and NEVER did the 24 hours. I live in New York. I did more of my hours on line then in the field. I guess that is good for some people but I was not disciplined to sit at computer when I had other things to do around house. There were also times when I went on computer and there was no work for me. As for the field work agin mixed emotions It was nice to meet so many new people but some were not nice - very annoyed that I was there. Some time the assignment took way longer than they said it should and other times too quickly that I had to go home and make up the hours.
In March I had a family emergency and had to take a leave of abscense. Another person I know was told in May no more work "the project ended" They just called her now to go back.
I hope this helps you
If it is for "extra money" I would say try it It was an interesting experience If you NEED the money I would say no
good luck
Let me know how it goes

I too saw the ad for medassurant- what exactly is the work. I am not a typist- i do the look at the keyboard and i am a little faster than hunt and peck. some software programs in the hospital really frustrate me. but i am undecided as to what i want to do "when i grow -up" as i've been a bedside nurse for 30 years in hospital setting and am very sick of the crap that goes with that. my thought was to do alot of different things- i am not presently fulltime or parttime any where, i do per deim at one hospital- 24 hours in a 6 week schedule, and agency when i can get it- which is slim pickens right now, i would love to go back travel nursing again- but am afraid the work isn't there. is med assurant something that can be done while on a travel assignment? any advice or info would be greately appreciated.

Thanks PMD, I took the test this past tuesday, passed, haven't gotten scheduled for anything yet, I am going to check my assignments tomorrow AM and see if they have got anything for me yet, if not, I will take the other job. I do need the money, more for savings for future but I don't want something here and there, soo...thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it. I have decided in the interim to go ahead with an interview at the other company.

dear karenchad

Basically the job I was doing was checking charts to see if a better reimbursement code could have been used. Medassurant is hired by insurance companies ie government to see if patient fits into a better ICD-9 code.
No typing but use/understanding of computer is necessary.
You get an assignment - doctor's office/clinic/hospital - lists of clients - and you go there on scheduled day - charts should have been pulled for you or computer set up for you - you review chart and look for other diseases not known - you then scan all documents into computer - you go home and upload information - day done
If no assignments in field you review charts online
I also have been a nurse 30+ years Had to quit to take care of mom/mom-in-law who recently died. Was looking for "something different" I would suggest going to differnet job sites and see what is out there There is a lot of different things I did flu vaccine program, college vaccination, temp job of case manager, this medassurant thing If a set salary and health benefits are not a problem go explore
good luck
