length of travel assignments

I have read that travel assignments are typically 13 week intervals, and I wondered if one could request an assignment for longer, say 10 to 12 months? (spouses job would require that we stay in one location for at least that long).

Default Re: length of travel assignments
Hi!

In my experience, travel assignments are initially contracted for a specific period of time 4, 8, 13, or 26 weeks. I have always been asked to extend, and have been able to set up extensions to suit my needs.

When the assignment had a bonus at contract end, it was pro-rated, or eliminated, if the extension was not another 13 weeks.

Ask your recruiter to research extensions at the hospitals you are applying with, I bet you'll find many very happy to keep you as long as you can stay.

Good luck,

Roxanne
