Labor Disputes

I have applied to work some strikes with US Nursing. I would like some feedback from anyone out there that has actually worked a labor dispute. I know there is great money to be made. I got the info from a friend of a friend etc that worked the strike in DC a couple of years ago. They only have one active strike going right now in PA and I would like to a couple of weeks.

Any info, anyone??? Thanks! Sassy

I have been in management for over 10 years and believe me I have my share of body fluids on me and have worked more overtime(without being paid) on a salary than any of the staff nurses I worked with. My usual weeks are between 60 to 65 hours.I have worked 70 to 80 hour weeks on occasion to help out the staff who are dying on overload. Alot of nurses must work with crappy managers. Try not to lump us all together. Some managers work their heiny off too LOL.

Why do some nurses think it ok for management to have organization, but wrong when nurses try to organize? I want a unionized nurse work force simply because I do care about the patient, and management much doesn't.

Management cares so little about patients that it often makes health care unaffordable, and basically unavailable for much of its own workforce and their families! How many nurse aides have been coworkers with RNs for years and been without health coverage?

I haven't seen much management care about the uninsured through the years. It's not like the hospital and nursing home business has been out lobbying hard for universal health care coverage in the US. But unions try to organize, then all of sudden everybody gets worried about "the patient"!

Strikers are fools they usually are trying to Strongarm management into going bankrupt. The only ones getting fat are the Union Bosses. My suggestion is for Nurses to Go Independant and demand A living wage.
