I Want My Contract To End!!!

I have been in this contract for 7 VERY LONG, STRESSFUL weeks! I wish they would tell me to go, just to get me OUT OF HERE!

Staff are leaving in droves, the people left are SO SNOTTY! I hate going to work! They are always short, and I (lucky me!) seem to have earned the "dislike" of a couple of people (unfortunately, one of them is a charge nurse! :o ).

This one particular b***h scrutinizes my work, is never around to help! 2 nights ago, I had one VERY BUSY pt; was tied up with him for over 6 hours. I went and checked on the other pt every hour, kept listening for alarms, but was unable to do a TID drsg change. I HAD to prioritize my noc, and my active GIB took a little precendence!:sniff: than a TID drsg change on a MVA, day 40!!!! Well, I heard about not doing the drsg change tonight!!:( There are MANY other crappy things she does to me; she is the worst (ok, she is tied with another!). (Oh, and tonight, SHE went to go lay down, BECAUSE SHE STARTED GETTING A MIGRAINE!

I try and be pleasant; not to just jump in her face! But I am so sick of this! I wish I could just bail on this assignment!:scrying:

Thanks for letting me vent! Has anyone ever wished they could just leave! No real "license threatening" issues, unless not enough time to do a good job is!:(

Specializes in Everything but psych!.

How exciting! I did some agency nursing in a few different states, but I lived there then, even though it was only 6 months. Let us know how it goes! How fun! :)

Copper...so sorry for your experience....I can definately relate!!

I am dealing with the EXACT situation on my current contract....4 weeks to go AND COUNTING!!

I just always remind myself that although these people are a real source of irritation right now....a week after I'm gone, I won't even remember those folks names...but they'll still be miserable people always looking to pick a fight!

Pucker up buttercup!!! This too shall end! :)

Life is to short to be in a position like you are talking about. I have left an assignment for that very reason. I spoke with my recruiter and she said I had to stay. We do not have to stay in situations like that. Document send copy to your recruiter and to the hospital management but, make sure it is to your recruiter first. Also, be prepared to pay some costs. I never had to but, depending on your company you may have to. We are valuable professionals and deserve to be treated as such

Right now I am in the Hospital from Hell and I have 10 long weeks left.

Pray for me.

Caroladybelle:

I am so sorry! I REALLY know how you feel! {{{ hugs }}}

Tesslynn: Yes, I could have left, but I was NOT willing to pay the penalties!:o It was 13 weeks of pure s*&t, but I made it and I think it made me a tad bit better! I also think that, in my instance, walking would have been unethical. It was not all bad; just 75% of the time! If my license would have been on the line, though, I WOULD HAVE BEEN OUT OF THERE!!!!:D

Just an update:

I think I left hell to come to heaven!!!!:) This assignment has been the best! I have been here a little over 4 weeks and am looking into extending!:roll

THERE ARE GREAT ASSIGNMENTS AND PEOPLE OUT THERE!!!:kiss

rncopper,

I had a friend who traveled to Dartmouth in Lebanon and never had a bad thing to say about the assignment. Looks like you are being rewarded for sticking with a bad assignment. Good for you and enjoy!

caroladybelle,

I am on an assignment where I too am counting down the shifts. Gradually it is getting more bearable, once I realized that my interview was one big lie. I was ready to cancel and stop traveling after a couple shifts. At least we know time won't stop and eventually it will be over. I am looking for my next stop, maybe a little early but it makes me feel better! ;)

Yes, Dartmouth is/has been a dream assignment! In fact, I am extending until March 27th! I really like it here: the facility, the people, the area. If I didn't want to keep on traveling.........and if I didn't have a home in SD.......Well, would think about staying here.

But the wanderlust in me is WAY too strong to stop traveling!!!

Hi, RNCOPPER!

I know you from Delphi as TravelREGNRS...

Listen, you hang in there. This is my point long ago where we are all looked at as fill ins and not as fellow co-workers.

I feel that we need to let others know if we are being mistreated by naming those hospitals that are are doing this to us.

To feel that you have to run out of assignment just burns me up! I would think you have signed a 13 week assignment and still have about 7 weeks to go.

I can't do much but I can say I am sorry you are having such a bad time right now.

I am complaining about lowered salaries but still love the idea of traveling. The fun leaves when you are miserable working where you feel like the agency Nurse that these other Nurses think they can criticize and take you down.

What I would do is openly speak to the nurse Manager after speaking to your Recruiter, first. You are a victim of abuse at work. You don't have to take this from anyone. I know that I wouldn't ever. You have the right to have a conference with the Nurse Manager and complain. You are a professional with a license and with experience. No one should feel they have the right to discipline you and make you feel that you are not doing the right thing. You know and so do I that Nursing is a 24 hr. job and no one ever died not having a stupid dressing not be changed!

Just curious why you're not looking for a southern assignment in the winter...So. Cal., South Texas, Arizona, Florida, New Orleans, they are begging for travelers with all the "Snow Birds" who are down south for the next four months.

You could be in the sunshine, 80 degree weather, palm trees, oranges drooping off the other trees, tropical birds, gulf cruises, exploring Mexico.....?

New Hampshire?

Lived in AZ for 30 years; born in CA; done the western part of the US (traveling as a kid on vacations, etc). FL pays WAY to little. NEVER been to the Northeast and now that I am here, I LOVE IT!!!! I travel to see the country.

Just finished digging my car out from underneath the snow, so that I can go to work in about an hour!!

I actually "live" in SD (I own a house there; been there since 2000) and was getting a little homesick with no snow. But this "little" Nor'Easter made my day!!!!

(Actually, flying to FL on Wed for an ACLS class and to meet my recruiter - whom I have never met in over 2 1/2 years. Will be there 6 days; that will be enough!)

Sure sounds like you are on top of your game !

ENJOY !!
