This is the perfect time of year to go to Hawaii whether as a traveling nurse or on vacation. I went to Hawaii years ago as a traveling nurse, and loved it!

    Happy Traveling!

I have sent out reciprocity papers with a check to Hawaii. I can hardly wait for that license. I am starting my 27 week assignment next Tuesday ad am very excited to plan for Hawaii as my next port of call as I term it.

    Aloha!!!!

Sorry, I had to add that. You look like you are a Crank Yanker's fan! No advice here!

I spent a year on Ohau and loved the first 6 months...... then the feeling of being stuck on a rock in the middle of the pacific started. By the time I left I thought I'd never want to visit Hawaii, or ever set foot on an Island again. That feeling has finally left and I hope to take another assignment there in the future. I will stay no more than the single assignment and will make preparations to have a vehicle as soon as I arrive on the island. Not having my own transportation for several weeks put me on edge for a bit. My favorite island to visit was Hawaii. I visited all the rest except for Molikai and just didn't have time to do that. Get Scuba certified as soon as possible, buy some gear and enjoy the life under the water as much as you can. It's great there with all the beaches being public and you can just walk out and find a great diving spot almost everywhere. Dive with a experience buddy though. Have a great time.

I am sure it will be okay for 13 weeks. I don't know if I should buy an old junk car that is dependable or just have mine shipped there. Did you have trouble meeting people? Aloha Sandy

    Aloha Sandy,
No I didn't have any trouble meeting people, in fact I was married on Maui while I was there. I purchased a motorcycle and was very happy with being able to get around with it. I had a large carry on bag that I took to the grocery store and Costo and when it was full I knew that I couldn't buy any more on that trip. My ex bought a VW Bug while she was there and we shipped both back to the mainland when we left the islands. She worked for an airline and they paid for the move. I don't know if I would expend the cash to transport something over and back. I had a deal worked out with the motorcycle shop where they would have bought the bike back when I left for about 80%of what I paid for it. I would have left it there if the shipping hadn't been free. You have to watch about buying a car, I think there is some kind of "dumping fee" that is charged if you title a vehicle and then abandon it on the island. It could be quite expensive if you are unable to sell it when you leave. They want to keep the islands as clean as possible. Let us know how you like it when you get there.

Okay I will. I still think it would be cheaper to ship mine there verses renting one. They are wanting 1800.00 to ship mine from Indiana, and 2400.00 for a rental car. What would you do? Talk to you later.
