I signed a contract with a large hospital in my home state. This is my first travel assignment. WHen I interviewed for the position I was told by the manager that I would not be scheduled in large blocks and that i would have every other weekend off. One week into the schedule, the manager resigns and a new interim manager takes over. I was scheduled for 2 48 hour weeks ( 4 twelve hour shifts) in a row with only one day off in between. I didn't complain, I just showed up and did my job.
It also took this hospital 4 weeks to get me sign on passwords to the computer and med system (I still don't have one for the acudose). In that time, the other nurses complained that I "couldn't do the job without the passwords" and were pretty verbal and rude to me. I apologized and still did the best I could, offering to help out with treatments, assessments because i couldn't access the meds.
I also had a pay guarentee..48 hours a week and if the hospital couldn't meet that they still had to pay me. So they scheduled me for classes (to obtain above mentioned passwords) 5 8 hour days. When i mentioned not getting the pay guarentee..they said "You should've volunteered" and my pay was cut in half. I still said nothing I just showed up to do my job.
I took a manager approved day off. Four hours into it the charge nurse calls to see if I can come in because they are "slammed" with admissions. After driving an hour and half to get there, the charge nurse leaves once I arrive. I said nothing
Now this week I woke up sicker than I have ever been and called off for ONE day. My recruiter called me this afternoon stating that they want to cancel my contract because of it. I'm half tempted to tell them to go for it.
Has anyone else had similair situations where as a traveler they are prepetually screwed over despite thier best efforts???
I apologize for the length
