I would like to know if someone out there has a financial advisor who has helped them with the IRS deductions for travelling nurses. For instance, when the IRS leaves such big windows open for tax free reimbursement, i.e., $31-$60/day for meals (w/out requiring receipts), and the housing and the mileage, how do you decide whether or not to go w/ $31 or $60? Has anyone taken FULL advantage of this exemption at the fullest rate and been audited?

How do you all approach this? How much do you take in exemptions and what guides you to the rate? I'm asking because there are recruiters who lean toward the conservative rate, and other recruiters who pay out the maximum deductions available.

I want the biggest bang for my buck, but I don't want to get a notice 6-7 years from now saying the IRS is conducting an audit for 2006.

This topic may have already been covered... If so, just refer me to the thread.

Thanks!
