Hi everyone.

Has anyone heard of American Mobile. The rep. has been calling me.

Can you tell me about their reputaion, pay, etc.

I don't pay for private housing with my agency. In fact, I just took a virtual tour of the private apt I will be occupying for my next assignment- Master suite, 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, washer/dryer, phone, cable TV, fireplace, utilities, linens/dishes, furniture, etc provided and paid for by my agency. The pay is great, and my recruiter is very nice, too.

I've gotten calls from lots other agencies- including American Mobile. they offered me $16.00 per hr less than I am getting now, for a nearly identical assignment.

I had an aweful experience with AM! My recuriter was basically a liar! Medical Express is their sister company & I did travel one assignment with them. Now I won't even talk to any company affiliated with them. The company I'm with now is great. Free private housing & my recruiter is awesome!

I travelled with AMN for 2 years and I regret it. I went with them when I first became a travel rn because they were in all the magazines and seemed to be the most popular. Every time I took an assignment, if I wanted to extend the pay got decreased by 0.50 - $1.00 per hour. I am sorry but you can't tell me the facility is doing that. Once I started talking to other travelers I realized I was getting a bad deal. Now I work for a company that has FREE private housing w/ linens, cable, phone, appliances, pots and pans, rental car, and airfare all included, plus $30 - 35 / hour every contract. Sorry, AMN can't even come close to that. Plus when I working for them I didn't even know they didn't provide long or short term disability. Now I make sure any company I goes with has that. AMN is too big of a company to be so cheap. They are getting 3x's what you are and still wanna pay crappy while nurses work like dogs. LOL. Like I said before, I really wish I would have know a traveler to ask questions to before I started.

Who are you traveling with I'm just starting out and am in a quandry with who to go with. I'm peds nurse for 25 yrs and want to travel to northern ca. wa state or nevada, any suggestions or warnings?

Who do you work for, that you were able to take a virtual tour of your private housing? I am just starting out and have a company who is looking for a contract for me in California. I will only work corrections and it has to be warm........so far it has been one month now, and it is getting close to my availablitity date and no contract, should I be concerned??

Helllllllo Nurse you do you work with that you get to have avirtual tour it sounds tooooo good to be true.I'm in a quandry trying to figure out who to go with since this is my first travel job. I'll be going to Ca., Wa., or Nv. or any other cool place for the summer. help me please!

The virtual tour of the apt is done by the apt company, not the travel company. It is usually on the website of the apt where you will be living.

This is very common, I have seen a virtual tour of each apt complex, as well as th eapt before I even moved into that area.

Not sure who does corrections, I know that the agency that I work for doesn't.

You should be worried about where you will be living, what your accomodations will be like, they should be private and you should not have to pay more for it, etc. Which utilities are included? What is reimbursement for your travel out, or will they fly you to the location, etc.....

These are just a few of the questions.........

AS far as I know, Corrections staffing is just done by a few agencies, but I am not sure of any of their names.....

Hi laborrn, actually that wasn't my orginal message, somehow it looks as if I'm the lucky one to have that kind of travel compnay, but this is going to be my first time traveling. the company that's mentioned by nicky is On Assignment , they sound good don't they? I'm in the process of contacting them. let you know if they're really that good.

That is who I work for and they are fabulous. Wouldn't even consider working for anyone else. Let me know if you want my recruiter's name.
