Hawaii Travel

Updated Jun 26, 2006 at 03:34 AM by bekah79il

Hi all,

my first post on all nurses, although i have often read the advice. i have searched the forums but was wondering if someone who has recently traveled to hawaii can tell me a few things.

1) do you know the cost to upgrade to private housing (my boyfriend will be coming with me, we'd like to have our own place rather than shared housing)

or, alternatively, do you know the approximate housing stipend/subsidy provided in hawaii?

2) any recommendations on a company to travel with as a first timer? My main concern is getting fair pay and private housing. I'd like to work 3 to 4 12 hour shifts a week. is this unrealistic?

Thanks for all your help!
Rebekah

There are companies that offer private housing. Like Travel Nurse Across America.

I'm already starting to research companies because I plan to travel in the future at some point so I want to have an idea on what company I would like to work for.

Anyhow, I'm sure therer are other companies that offer private housing other than the one I mentioned.

Each company has its own rates for upgrades. Many supply private housing only, and that is the way to do it. you should not need to pay extra for your own place. If you would want a two bedroom, then an additional charge is warranted in many cases, but for your own private housing, it should be a given. Not something that you need to pay extra for.

I am in K.ona, Hawaii right now. I have free private housing. The pay isn't that great but I am right next to the ocean.

Who are you traveling with (company)? How much an hour? What area of hospital?

Thanks in advance! I would LOVE to be in Hawaii!
