Got my first travling job!!!!

by BoiseRN

Hi all! I don't post much on the forum but have read a lot of advice and thoughts from everyone about traveling and just want to say 'THANKS'!!

I just accepted a CVOR/OR job in Tucson, AZ at University Medical Center!! I am super excited and scared as well! I know it will be a great experience and I will learn a lot!

I have never been to Tucson before so if anyone has been there and has any cool places to go or things to do/see let me know!! Also, any other helpful tips are always welcome. And if anyone is swinging through Tucson or knows anyone that works as a traveler in the area and might want to go for coffee or a movie or something, well that would be awesome too!

Thanks again for the great posts that have been super helpful!!

Congratulations BoiseRN. I too went to Arizona as a traveler. I loved so much I moved there. I am a little north of you however in Scottsdale. It is a beautiful and fun state full of energetic people. And man does it get hot. Take your sunscreen.

Congrats! Thats exciting! I have lived in Phoenix for 10 yrs and traveled around the state a lot. Tucson is a small town but I'm sure you will find things to do. It's kind of a college town because University of Arizona is there. It is a nice campus to visit. They have a Native American museum.

Nogales is 30 min away on the Mexican border. It is a neat town to visit and get to know the culture more. I love visiting Tucson because they have really good Mexican food so take advantage of that.

Phoenix is 1.5 hrs away. If you would like to go to the beach, Rocky Point(Puerto Penasco) Mexico is only 4 hrs away. It is a really beautiful place but I don't know if it would be safe to go by yourself. I don't know if you'll have a car and be able to visit all those places but maybe you can rent one for a few days?

You seem like you're going to Tucson with a great attitude so I'm sure you will do really well. :-)

You can message me if you need any other insight.

Ok so I am taking my sunscreen and am going to be happy to not put on layers upon layers of clothes to step outside!!! Also, it sounds like there is a lot to see in and around Tucson so I will definately get out there and explore! I have my car and my dogs so I am sure we will keep busy! Thanks again everyone and if I can just get through these next two weeks of packing and scheduling and paperwork and planning... I'll be great!!!
