Good ATC travel Contract or NO!

SO, Let me start by saying that this is my first travel contract. I have read information on this site and the many others out there. First things first, I live in northern NJ and was offered a travel contract for a hospital in southern NJ. My contract gives both a meal and housing allowance. However, I do not have to pay where I live. Again, I have read information about that portion ( Tax home) and understand that this in fact may not qualify as a tax home. Now! my contract information is as follows:

Hourly Rate: $15.00

Overtime Rate: after 40 hours in a work week( these words only no numerical amount)

Meals Allowance: $420.00/week

Housing Allowance: $ 770.00/week

So, with math included my amounts would total below:

$15.00x40hrs= $600.00/ week

Meals/housing=1,190/week

Total before taxes= $1,790/week

I am not a staff nurse but rather a RN Case Manager, so its 8hrs a day for 40hrs a week. So, this is my question, even though I will be bringing home around $1,600 after taxes each week is this still a good contract or does anyone see areas that I should have changed or for my next assignment look out for. I am already working this contract but I wanted to know of any potential information for future assignments. BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my recruiter so I don't feel like she shafted me...but one never knows!!....

Thanks again for all help

You are expressing doubt about your tax home, but not providing enough details for an answer. You are not paying where you live? What does that mean? Present place you live, or at assignment? If you are commuting to work from where you live, you are not eligible to receive any tax free reimbursement.

If you do have to pay taxes, you will need to consider if it is better for you than a staff job and make the appropriate decision. The amount you are being paid is in the range of most travel jobs, between a total of $40 to $50 an hour.

Thanks, my question was not so much about the tax home. I was just providing that info as many people on here post that when they ask this type of question. I was more interested in the adequacy of my contract terms. And from what you have said its within range so that's awesome. Thanks for your assistance.
