by loricatus Dec 8, '08I am posting this on behalf of Gonzo1, who needs some assistance with the mandatory testing for travelers in the Parkland ED.
She was told that there will be three tests that she must pass or her contract will be cancelled. Can anyone out there help her with what to expect from these tests, their subject or content matter? She relayed to me that two other travelers failed the tests, so she is a bit worried.
She will be reading your responses at work for the next couple of nights and is not able to post while at work-the reason for me acting on her behalf.
I also know that she would be appreciative of any other information that can be given to her regarding Parkland and their ED. So, if any nontravelers read this but can give her info, that would be great.
And Gonzo:
, you are a courageous person

- Dec 10, '08 by highlandlass1592On another forum, a traveler posted that the 'challenge' exam is similar to the PBDS but is based upon Parkland protocols. She turned the job down when she got the lowdown. Her recruiter should be able to give more details. Good luck to herloricatus likes this.

- Dec 12, '08 by snortzmomHi! It was me that posted the info on delphi
I turned down the Parkland job due to the "challenge" exam. My recruiter at CCTC actually got me a blueprint of 1 of the 3 tests and it was too much of a risk for me, but then again I am relatively inexperienced for Parkland
and it probably saved me from 13 weeks of hell. I remember 1 of the questions asked me to write the steps of peritoneal lavage (not multiple choice) which was kind of old-school, you know? Anyway, try to get the blueprint. The 2nd test is Basic EKG, and I think the 3rd is a standard Med exam. Anyway, Gonzo, let us know how it goes? Kirsten.

You really made me laugh J with that "courageous" comment.
Quess I better get out the books and memorize the steps for lavage. Which I have never done - Dec 14, '08 by loricatusQuote from gonzo1You'll probably then be the only one that would know how to do it thereThanks to everyone for the input.
