Fingerprinting in Georgia for TX, FL, and CA RN License

Hi, I'm getting ready to start traveling and I want to get my licenses in order. I live in Georgia and I'm applying for licenses in California, Florida, and Texas. I'm having a hard time finding a place in Georgia to do electronic (LiveScan) prints for the other states. I don't want to do it in ink if I can avoid that, because it will take longer to process. I went to a place here in GA and the guy told me his company was authorized to submit digitals to FL, but not TX and CA. However, he said that their GA office did not have the equipment to do the digitals for FL so I would have to do ink anyway. If any of you have done out of state prints in GA, please tell me where you went to. thanks in advance

I am basing it on my own personal (HCA) South Florida experience where 6:1 ER ratios are not uncommon, where you are expected to leave your unstable patients behind to transport your admitted ones upstairs, where techs and paramedics are rare or simply not enough to leave a mark, where the word "diversion" is somehow a four letter word, and ambulances line up gurneys outside the ER waiting to be acknowledged and accommodated, where the geriatric population in this area is used to being dropped off on a stretcher in the ER hallway because there are not enough rooms available to house them, and worst of all, where there are no tele packs or monitoring equipment of any kind to take care of over 50% of the patients.[/quote']

Lord help me, I just started an assignment in south Florida at an HCA. Still doing education modules and classroom training, but nervous...

Haha.. True. I'll take the good with the bad! Grandma lives only 10 minutes away too, which is the main reason I came.

Well, you can't get off the bus once it's moving, so you will have to make the most of it. Practice your limit-setting skills and remember to calmly back up your "No" with a practical and logical reason, such as "I do not want to jeopardize my license", or "I do not feel comfortable with that", and most importantly: DOCUMENTATION is your friend. After each shift, you will have your lovely grandma to share a pina colada with... :bored: Does she scuba dive, too?

I had a dickens of a time getting my fingerprints for my CA license. My first fingerprint submission was done on the cards I got from the CA BON. I went to my local police dept to do this. Sent in all paperwork, money, everything they needed & didn't hear from them for weeks. Fingerprints were rejected as they were un-readable (we handle so much paper our prints can be rubbed out) & the BON lost half of my paperwork. I ended up loosing the job because of the delay (all in all it took close to a year!). I highly suggest doing the scan as any problems can be seen at the time by the scanner. Try a Google search. I actually drove to CA (not so far away for me) to get my scan done & hand carried my paperwork & money to the CA BON. CA was having financial problems in their state offices and not open all work days & short staffed. That was 3 years ago; it may be better, now. You might consider sending paperwork by registered mail. The west coast pays better than the rest of the nation. Good luck.

Hi, I'm also unable to find any livescan provider in Georgia that is authorized to submit to Florida. I cannot even find anyone who can do the hard cards with a photo in Georgia.

Any police department can do fingerprint cards. There are Livescan providers in GA listed on FL BON.

Thanks, NedRN,

All of the livescan providers I've contacted say they are not authorized to forward to Florida. I'm told I need to mail the card to a Florida livescan provider. I had the prints done, but they did not do a photo, which Florida requests. Any ideas?

Thanks again!

Go to the FL BON to find authorized GA providers. Or cross the border and have it done in FL.

I am getting mine done in PA and sending them to Binary Biometrics. I got their information off the FL BON's website. According to a rep from BB, the additional screening - which is what the photo is done for - is for when you have a job offer, not for when just applying for a license, so you can send the fingerprint card in without the photo. I don't know if this is accurate as I literally got this information and did my prints today, but he was able to find a site that did the photo as well (I couldn't find one in my area when I looked independently) so I'm sending it all out now in the hopes they will do both.

Again who knows if it'll work out for me but NedRN's advice to look on the BON's site is then right way to start.
