Caribbean nursing jobs

by gregca5

I am looking for a Caribbean nursing assignment. I would also appreciate any information re: Caribbean nursing. I am looking for long term or permanent placement. It seems there is limited info on nursing in the Caribbean. I just finished 6mos in Hawaii and have good info if anyone is interested. Thanks

Don't know where you are interested in working. World wide travel staffing has assignments in St. Croix and St. Thomas. Don't know any details or anyone that has been. World Wide is sister company to OR Team Stat. I have not traveled with them before, their pay is normally a little low. My friend and I are looking into going to St Thomas. PRN Health is also working on assignments in St. Thomas, the recruiter is very nice and helpful. Not sure exactly what the name of the company is, there are several "PRN's" out there.
Where did you work in Hawaii? What is your specialty? I worked in Maui and loved it. In the OR.

Thanks for the info. I really have no preference as to specific island I just want to 'get lost' there for a while. I work mainly cardiac stepdown/telemetry. However, I was asked to work ICU and ER on occasion. I was on Oahu, I worked at several facilities there before being assigned to St. Frances system. I chose Altres Medical they are a local agency and have good housing. Staff is easy to work with. Thanks again.

Abetta care recently contacted me with positions in ST. Thomas (minimum 13 weeks). I am interested but the pay seems really low.

I don't know if you read this post months later after your original, but I'm a traveler with World Wide on St. Croix. The pay is excellent. I might want to take my next assignment in Hawaii. If you have any info it would be helpful.

My husband and i have a long range plan for relocation to the caribbean, probably the USVI, within five years, kids will be gone and we are ok abt selling the house and taking off. Have been cruising alot, love the islands, and are excited about these plans. Have just begun process of learning more and wonder if there are resources out there that can address travel nursing in a nutshell, a place for beginners to get their feet wet figuring this all out. Where to start? thanks!

I'm interested in the US Virgin Islands as well. When you say low pay, what does that mean? How low? Thanks!
