Can u work a full-time job and a travel assignment?

by rn2bn07

I would like to take a travel assignment during the summer, as well as, keep my full time job. I need my benefits and my pension. Has anyone ever did this? If so, how did you do it?

My manager granted me a LOA for the assignment im currently on. Im sure though that she wouldnt again, and I wouldnt ask again. If travel nursing were to be a more common thing, then it would be reasonable for me to quit and go causal/ per diem. It wouldnt be fair to her to keep asking for LOA's just to maintain my benefits.
