Assignment started and ended bad!!

Updated Apr 16, 2008 at 07:00 AM by sirI

I should have known when got to the apartment and found out that my company's application for the apartment had been declined and I had no where to stay for several hours till they got things straightened out then ended up sleeping on the floor becuz the furniture didn't show up. The hospital was a GREAT hospital and I ended up extending but when I left the apartment manager said we trashed the place and now the travel company held my last paycheck and deducted almost $600 for damages.

I will NEVER go with them ever again.
My recruiter was ok but he never really apologized for the screw up at the beginning. I am very frustrated with them needless to say.

My last assignment I cleaned the apartment before I left. My recruiter contacted me and said that the complex was charging me for the damage I did. I asked what damage-the apartment was fine. They had said that I left all the hosuewares there and that I ruined the blinds. I refused to pay-all the housewares were there from the previous traveler.....my recruiter was able to get the fees waived or just not deduct from my check-but this assignment I am going to do a walk through before I leave and take pictures. I think that the complexes just try to get money wherever they can.

Not a travel RN, but we and others in our family have saved much in security deposit $ by not only taking still pictures but also taking videos of things like the inside of the appliances, the bathrooms, and all flooring. This is where they like to gig you the worst by claiming you left a mess. If you include a copy of that day's newspaper with the date visible, it shows that as of that day, things were in good condition.

You might also be able to insist on a closing walk-thru with the other person signing off on the state of the apartment.

I'd still do the video with the newspaper, though.

You can request a walk through with the complex/property management at the beginning and end of the contract.
