Anyone travel with their family? Husband and kids?

Just wondering if anyone has done this. I thought it would be a good way for us to live somewhere else and for me to have a travel experience. Pros or cons? I have a husband and 2 young children that would be going with me.

I hope others respond to this - I am curious to see what the responses are. My hubby is 8 years older than I am, so our plan is for me to do travel nursing when he retires and he will tag along (which I know is a long way off, but we are excited about it!!!) We figure it is the best of both worlds, we can travel like a retired couple, but let me work too and keep from spending his retirement $$$! Good luck to you!

I travel with my retired hubby and son. Son works at fast food restaurants and hubby just stays home and does the laundary, acts as chauffer, cleans house, oh yeah... he's the "home executive."

I wouldn't trade it for the world!!!

IdahoNurse....I like that term "home executive". I guess my husband is my "home executive". I love it! He does work from home (via computer...he's an engineer) but he also....does laundry, etc. It's great. Especially when after working a 15 hour shift....I come home and dinners ready....that's a real treat. We travel via our motorhome and love the lifestyle. Oh yea....our little dog "Susie" travels with us too....she's our little 1/2 chihuahua 1/2 yorkie mix.....she loves being on the road.

So is there nobody else traveling w/kids?? I have a 5 and a 6 yo....single parent and am intersted to hear...anybody doing it????

I travel with my wife and a 8 year old son. He is home schooled by my wife with the assistance of a great INTERNET based program. He is supposed to be in 3rd grade and is performing on a 5th grade level.

We love going to the various places and plan his school subjects round the place we visit.

Found this thread on a search... my bf and I are both nurses now, and I have a 6 yo son. We've tossed around the idea of traveling, but I'm worried about the effect it will have on my son.

So, traveling with a family is possible?

I am not a traveler, but after my son graduates from high school, I plan to start traveling (he is a sophomore.) I met a traveling respiratory therapist who took her 2 kids on the road, they were about 10 and 12 when I met her. Her husband died and she was overwhelmed with the property/house, etc so she started taking travel jobs. She is from Ohio originally and the kids are still technically enrolled in the school district there and maintain their class activities online. One thing I am not sure how she handled child-care while working--I met her on the night shift. With your kids being young, you would have to come up with very organized arrangements as soon as you hit a new area because you would have to arrange for care for days when the kids are sick, school is closed, etc. Good luck~
