Anyone going to READING, PA for EPIC Conversion?

I've signed to do the EPIC conversion Jan 30th. Anyone else going? There must be some, sounds like a huge job. I think it may be beneficial to take the stipend, and get my own place--even though it's only a month. Any thoughts here? I'm doing the nights, btw.

Moved to our Nursing Informatics foruim for best chance networking with another EPIC user.

Hey you'll be in my neighborhood, only 1 hr away.

Probably better to post over in Travel Nursing forum. I almost did the Reading conversion but decided to stay in The Bay Area.

Yeah, I liked it in the travel forum because my understanding is they are hiring more than 200 travelers for this job. Any chance of it being put back?

Just FYI...if you are familiar with Epic, you can get a job as an Epic Go-Live consultant making $40-60/hr with housing and travel paid for just like on a nursing travel assignment...except you won't be doing patient care...just kind of standing around helping the nurses and MDs with the transition. Google "epic go-live support"

Hopefully I didn't double post, to the OP, what company did you use?

If you get your own place, be very careful about where you get it. Reading, PA has been getting much worse as far as crime and violent crime goes over the past 10+ years. I have a few friends that work there now in law enforcement and loss prevention. The police don't show up to 911 calls about gunshots any more unless someone was shot or they receive multiple calls about the same incident because criminals shooting at criminals is so common there. The K-Mart in Reading leads the country in the highest number of criminals caught shop lifting among the entire K-mart chain. Avoid getting a place within city limits.

I'm from Pennsylvania and have been looking for assignments in state, but have noticed they seem to be really hit or miss, at least with my companies. What company are you going through?

I know that NurseChoice is staffing this conversion. Unsure what other companies are in on it.
